Photo 58: Baby Powerful Owl

©

Description:

The Powerful Owl is the largest owl in Australia. Unfortunately it is also an endangered species. Its number has declined significantly over the years due to lost of habitat (excessive urban development) and food supplies (too many feral animals). So it was a very auspicious day when we saw the arrival of the new baby powerful owl in the Cumberland State Forest, West Pennant Hill, New South Wales, Australia . Photograph taken on Sunday, 28th September 2008.
