Feng Shui

I got interested in Feng Shui early 1999 when I was looking to purchase a house. A friend loaned me a small booklet by one of the local Feng Shui Mater called 'Buying a House according to Feng Shui'. I was a bit skeptical initially. But then I thought, what have I got to lose? After reading throught the little book my interest and curiosity about Feng Shui was suitably stimulated. I started reading books, magazine articles, websites and everything on Feng Shui I could lay me hands on. Before long I started to increase my knowledge on this mysterious science and along with it came the connections and transformation which I wasn't expecting.

One of the important things I realised after studying Feng Shui is, I am very much an integral part of our envirnoment, our world, our universe. We are 'one' and are intimately connected. When we were babies, young and innocent, these connections were clear and second-natured to us. We trusted our hearts and feelings. But as we grew older the 'ego-self' started to take over and we became more and more alienated from our own source, the 'Soul of the World'. We have forgotten the language of the world. We are no longer able to read the signs and omens which nature is constantly showing us .

To me Feng Shui is like a powerful tool but it is only part of a bigger scheme. It can certainly be used to help us to recognise and understand some of the signs and landscapes. But the tool is only useful and effective if the user understands the fundamental principles and is in tune with his/her inner self. Otherwise it could be very superficial, damaging and deepening the level of ignorance.

Feng Shui to me is a combination of many things:

Realising everything is connected and inter-dependent

Understanding I am part of this 'oneness' or 'source'

Understanding my environment, my world and my universe

Harmony, Balance and Tranquility

Trusting my heart and my feelings

Learning to become more aware of my surrounding and environment

Learning to appreciate the small and simple things

Getting connected to the Soul of the World and learning to understand its language
